    Background
    Vimentin is one of the five major groups of intermediate filaments, a distinct class of cytosekeltal proteins, occurring in mesenchymal cells. Localized vimentin can be detected in fibroblasts, endothelial cells, lymphoid tissues, and melanocytes.
