Apolipoprotein CI is one of the protein components of VLDL lipoprotein. The normal plasma concentration of Apo CI is 4-7 mg per 100 ml. Elevated levels of Apo CI may offer some protection from obesity and insulin-dependent diabetes. Some evidence exists that the Apo CI H2 gene is positively associated with late-onset Alzheimer's disease.
