  • Format
    Lyophilized
    Reconstitution
Centrifuge the vial before opening. Reconstitute to a concentration of 0.1-0.5 mg/mL in sterile distilled water. Avoid votex or vigorously pipetting the protein. For long term storage, it is recommended to add a carrier protein or stablizer (e.g. 0.1 % BSA, 5 % HSA, 10 % FBS or 5 % Trehalose), and aliquot the reconstituted protein solution to minimize free-thaw cycles.

    0.61 mg/mL
    Buffer
Lyophilized from a 0.22 μm filtered solution of PBS, pH 7.4.
    Storage
    -20 °C,-80 °C
    Storage Comment
Store the lyophilized protein at -20°C to -80 °C for long term.
After reconstitution, the protein solution is stable at -20 °C for 3 months, at 2-8 °C for up to 1 week.

    Background

Description: CD5L (CD5 antigen-like), also known as Sp alpha and AIM, is a 50 kDa secreted glycoprotein that belongs to the SRCR (scavenger receptor cysteine rich) group B family of proteins. CD5L is up-regulated in macrophages at inflammatory sites. It sustains inflammatory reactions by both increasing the phagocytic capacity of macrophages and impeding the apoptosis of local macrophages, NK cells, and T cells. CD5L functions as a pattern recognition molecule by binding both lipoteichoic acid (LTA) on Gram positive and lipopolysaccharide (LPS) on Gram negative bacteria. In the thymic cortex, CD5L protects cortical CD4+CD8+thymocytes from apoptosis. CD5L circulates in the serum in complex with IgM.
