- Background
- ACAT2 is an enzyme involved in lipid metabolism. It participates in lipoprotein assembly, catalyzing cholesterol esterification in mammalian cells. ACAT2 is an integral membrane protein that localizes to the endoplasmic reticulum of human intestinal cells. ACAT2 deficiency contributes to severe mental retardation and hypotonus. Recombinant human ACAT2 protein, fused to His-tag at N-terminus, was expressed in E.coli and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques. Synonyms: ACTL, Acetyl-CoA acetyltransferase, cytosolic. NCBI no.: NP_005882
