- Background
- PLAT, also known as tissue-type plasminogen activator isoform 1, is a protein involved in the breakdown of blood clots. This protein is secreted as a single chain polypeptide precursor which is cleaved in turn by plasmin. Also, active PLAT converts plasminogen to plasmin, a fibrinolytic protease, by hydrolyzing an Arg-Val peptide bond in plasminogen. Recombinant human PLAT protein, fused to His-tag at C-terminus, was expressed in insect cell and purified by using conventional chromatography techniques.
