- Background
-
Tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 13B (TNFRSF13B), is also known as Transmembrane activator and CAML interactorand, CD267 and TACI. TNFRSF13B is a transmembrane receptor protein found predominantly on the surface of B cells, which are an important part of the immune system. TNFRSF13B is highly expressed in spleen, small intestine, thymus and peripheral blood leukocytes. TNFRSF13B mediates calcineurin-dependent activation of NF-AT, as well as activation of NF-kappa-B and AP-1. TNFRSF13B is involved in the stimulation of B- and T-cell function and the regulation of humoral immunity. Defects in TNFRSF13B are the cause of immunodeficiency common variable type 2 (CVID2) and cause of immunoglobulin A deficiency 2 (IGAD2).
