- Background
- Alpha-MSH (alpha melanocyte-stimulating hormone) is an ancient tridecapeptide with potent inhibitory activity in all major forms of inflammation. ACTH has structural similarities to alpha-MSH. ACTH and alpha-MSH can induce grooming, stretching, yawning, penile erection responses in male rats, site of action in the brain and role of melanocortin receptors.
