AntiRibP is an indirect solid phase enzyme immunometric assay (ELISA). It is designed for the quantitative measurement of IgG class autoantibodies directed against ribosomal P proteins. The assay is based on microplates coated with the ribosomal P proteins P0, P1 and P2. The microplates can be divided into 12 modules of 8 wells each or can be used completely for 96 determinations. Each well can be separated from the module (

- Background
-
Antibodies to ribosomal proteins (anti-RibP or anti-RPP) are of special clinical relevance in the differential diagnosis of systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). Anti-RibP antibodies are directed against a common epitope of three phosphoproteins (P0, P1 and P2), which are major compounds of the 60s subunit of ribosomal RNP complexes. In cases of systemic lupus which are associated with depression and/or psychotic symptoms anti-RibP antibodies have been reported with an incidence of 40 to 90 percent. Determination of antibodies directed against ribosomal proteins is a valuable diagnostic tool for the differential diagnosis of SLE, especially in cases where classic SLE typical antibodies are not present.
