    Background

    Synonyms: C-X-C mot chemokine 15, C-X-C mot chemokine 15, Small-inducible cytokine B15, Lungkine.

Background: CXCL15 (Lungkine) is a CXC chemokine that is expressed in murine lung epithelial cells and, to a lesser extent, in certain fetal tissues. No human homolog has been identified and a specific cell surface receptor has not yet been found. Lungkine expression in lung tissue is elevated in response to inflammation, at which time it acts to specifically recruit neutrophils and direct them into the lung airway.
