- Background
- Background: Activating signal cointegrator 1 complex subunit 3 (ASCC3) is a 3'-5' DNA helicase involved in repair of alkylated DNA. ASCC3 promotes DNA unwinding to generate single-stranded substrate needed for ALKHB3, enabling ALKHB3 to process alkylated N3-methylcytosine (3mC) within double-stranded regions. ASCC3 also enhances NF-kappa-B, SRF and AP1 transactivation [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) Q9Y3R0].
