- Background
- Background: OBFC2A is also known as hSSB2 or SSB2 and is a homolog of hSSB1 (OBFC2B). OBFC2A, as well as OBFC2B are single-stranded binding proteins that contain an oligonucleotide/oliosaccharide binding fold (OB-fold). OB-fold proteins associate with each other to form multi-OB-fold complexes that associate with DNA-processing complexes that participate in DNA damage repair and replication. OBFC2A has been shown to protect genomic stability, and it is hypothesized that its participation in the DNA damage response may involve RAD51 and the ATM signaling pathway.
