- Background
- Background: Ubiquitin conjugation factor E4 B (UBE4B) is an E4 enzyme of the multi-step ubiquitination pathway. Targeting of proteins by ubiquitination occurs in three main steps that involve the activation of ubiquitin by E1 enzymes, the carrying of ubiquitin to the target protein by E2 enzymes and the ligation of ubiquitin to the target protein by E3 enzymes. The E4 enzyme is an additional conjugation factor which is involved in polyubiquitin chain assembly. UBE4B has been identified as a candidate neuroblastoma tumor suppressor gene.
