- Background
- Background: SHARP functions as a transcriptional repressor by interacting with proteins involved in deacetylation such as the NuRD (nucleosome remodeling) complex. SHARP can also repress transcription by interacting with corepressors such as SMRT/NCoR (silencing mediator for retinoid and thyroid receptors/nuclear receptor corepressor). SHARP is able to suppress transcription through the Notch/RBP-J signaling pathway by competing RBP-J binding with the intracellular domain of Notch.
