- Background
- Background: Phosphodiesterase 8B is a cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterase (PDE) that catalyzes the hydrolysis of the second messenger cAMP. PDE8B, which does not hydrolyze cGMP, is resistant to several PDE inhibitors. Defects in the PDE8B gene are a cause of autosomal dominant striatal degeneration (ADSD) [taken from NCBI Entrez Gene (Gene ID: 8622)].
