- Background
- Background: The EVI5 oncogene has been identified as a protein that is localized to the centrosome and mitotic spindle, and in association with the aurora B complex, facilitates cytokinesis. EVI5 also appears to prevent premature APC/C activation and mitotic progression by stabilizing the anaphase-promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C) inhibitor, Emi1, as well as cyclin A. EVI5 has also been demonstrated to be a binding partner of the Rab11 GTPase that regulates intracellular transport and cytokinesis.
