    Background
Background: Terminal uridylyltransferase 7, encoded by ZCCHC6, mediates the terminal uridylation of mRNAs with short (less than 25 nucleotides) poly(A) tails, hence facilitating global mRNA decay. Terminal uridylyltransferase 7 is also involved in microRNA (miRNA)-induced gene silencing and acts as a suppressor of miRNA biogenesis [taken from UniProtKB (Entry: Q5VYS8)].
