- Background
- Background: Pat1 homolog b (Pat1b) is an RNA-binding protein involved in deadenylation-dependent decapping of mRNAs, leading to the degradation of mRNAs. Pat1b acts as a scaffold protein that connects deadenylation and decapping machinery. Pat1b is required for cytoplasmic mRNA processing body (P-body) assembly, and in cases of infection, it is required for translation and replication of hepatitis C virus (HCV) [taken from the Universal Protein Resource (UniProt) Q86TB9].
