- Background
- Background: ESCO2 (establishment of cohesion 1 homolog2) is an acetyltransferase that is essential to sister chromatid cohesion during S phase. Recent studies reveal that ESCO2 associates with components of the CoREST transcriptional repression complex. ESCO2 has also been shown to possess histone H3 K9 methylation activity. These findings suggest a role for ESCO2 in transcriptional regulation via the modulation of chromatin structure.
