- Background
- Background: Symplekin is a component of tight junctions that also localizes to the nucleus and is a component of 3'-end processing machinery. As part of the mRNA 3'-end processing machinery symplekin is necessary for poly(A) tail elongation. Although histone mRNA 3'ends are not polyadenylated, symplekin has been shown to also play a role in 3'end maturation of histone mRNAs.
