Background
Background: KANK2/SIP was first identified during a genome wide-screen for proteins that interact with the SRC transcriptional coactivator. KANK2/SIP was also identified by domain and phylogenetic analysis to be a member of the KANK ankyrin-repeat domain-containing protein family. KANK related proteins possess a conserved ankyrin-repeat and coiled-coil domain. KANK2, as well as other KANK proteins, appear to play a role in the formation of actin stress fibers.
