Background
Background: BAAT1 (BRCA1-associated protein required for ATM activation-1) was identified in a yeast two-hybrid screen as a BRCA1-interacting protein. BAAT1 localizes to double stranded breaks and is required for the activation of ATM in response to ionizing radiation. BAAT1 may function to protect ATM from deactivating phosphatase activity.
