- Background
- Background: The human AF9 gene is one of the most common fusion partner genes with the MLL (mixed lineage leukemia) gene resulting in AF9/MLL translocations and leukemogenesis. AF9 is highly homologous to the gene product of ENL, another common MLL fusion partner gene. The function of AF9 is not known but through studies of ENL it is proposed to be a nuclear transactivating factor.
