Background: PRE7 is a subunit of the Yeast proteasome. The yeast proteasome seems to be composed of 14 different subunits which form a highly ordered ring-shaped structure. The proteasome degrades poly-ubiquitinated proteins in the cytoplasm and in the nucleus. It is essential for the regulated turnover of proteins and for the removal of misfolded proteins.
