Background
Fatty acid binding protein 6 (FABP6, also known as the ileal bile acid binding protein IBABP) is regarded as a bile acid binding protein found in the distal portion of the small intestine and may be important in maintaining bile acid homeostasis. FABP6 is reportedly up-regulated in colorectal cancer, it has been suggested as a link between bile acids and the risk of colorectal cancer. And also, it was showed a potential drug target for the treatment of diabetes. There are 2 isoforms of this protein, one of which is about 14 kDa we detected.
