- Specificity
- Recognizes numerous Adeno proteins including hexon protein, and reacts with Adenovirus types 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7a, 8, 31, 40 & 41. Broad reactivity with other Adenovirus types is expected. Does not cross-react with Parainfluenza types 1-3, Influenza A & B, RSV, hMPV and Rhinovirus type 16. Does not react with uninfected Hep-2, LLCMK2 and Vero cells. Adenoviruses are 80-110 nm diameter, non-enveloped icosahedral viruses that can cause respiratory illness, infantile gastroenteritis and other mild disorders such as conjunctivitis. Features of Adenovirus have made it a useful tool for gene transfection and expression in mammalian cells.
