ELISA, Immunodiffusion (ID), Nephelometry (Neph), Radial Immunodiffusion (RID), Immunoelectrophoresis (IEP)
    Specificity
Inter-species cross-reactivity is a normal feature of antibodies to serum proteins, since homologous proteins of different species frequently share antigenic determinants. of this antiserum has not been tested in detail. In double radial immunodiffusion no reaction has been observed with rat and mouse.
    Characteristics
Precipitating polyclonal rabbit antiserum to human hemopexin
    Purification
Adsorption: Immunoaffinity adsorbed using insolubilized antigens as required, to eliminate antibodies reacting with other serum proteins. The use of insolubilized adsorption antigens prevents the presence of excess adsorbent protein or immune complexes in the antiserum.
    Immunogen
Hemopexin is a haem-binding beta-globulin present in normal serum at a concentration of 0.8 to 1.0 mg/ml. Its molecular weight is 57,000. The carbohydrate content is 23%. It consists of one polypeptide chain. Purified hemopexin isolated from pooled human serum. Freund’s complete adjuvant is used in the first step of the immunization procedure.
    Isotype
    IgG

  • Application Notes
In precipitating techniques as immunoelectrophoresis and single and double radial immunodiffusion to identify the presence hemopexin in human serum or other body fluids and to determine its concentration. This antiserum has not been tested in more sensitive assays as nephelometry, ELISA or use in immunohistology, but this does not exclude such use if proper controls are included.
    Restrictions
    For Research Use only
  • Format
    Lyophilized
    Concentration
Total protein and IgG concentrations in the antiserum are comparable to those of pooled normal rabbit serum. No foreign proteins added. Antibody titre: Precipitin titre 1:32 when tested against pooled normal human serum in agar-block immunodiffusion titra
    Buffer
Delipidated, heat inactivated, lyophilized, stable whole antiserum
    Preservative
    Without preservative
    Storage
    4 °C/-20 °C
    Storage Comment
The lyophilized antiserum is shipped at ambient temperature and may be stored at +4°C, prolonged storage at or below -20°C. Reconstitute the lyophilized antiserum by add ing 1 ml sterile distilled water. Dilutions may be prepared by adding phosphate buffered saline (PBS, pH 7.2). Repeated thawing and freezing should be avoided. If a slight precipitation occurs upon storage, this should be removed by centrifugation. It will not affect the performance of the antiserum. Diluted antiserum should be stored at +4°C, not ref rozen, and preferably used the same day.
  • Target
    Hemopexin (HPX)
    Alternative Name
    Hemopexin (HPX Products)
    Synonyms
HPX antibody, HX antibody, Hpxn antibody, hx antibody, wu:fi17f11 antibody, wu:fi19a10 antibody, hemopexin antibody, HPX antibody, Mmar10_1124 antibody, Hpx antibody, hpx antibody
    Background
The reactivity of the antiserum is restricted to hemopexin as tested in immunoelectro-phoresis and radial immunodiffusion. A characteristic single precipitin line is obtained with normal serum which shows a reaction of identity with the precipitin line with purified hemopexin
    Pathways
Transition Metal Ion Homeostasis, Regulation of Leukocyte Mediated Immunity, Positive Regulation of Immune Effector Process, Production of Molecular Mediator of Immune Response
