- Background
- DACH1 is similar to the Drosophila melanogaster dachshund gene, which encodes a nuclear factor essential for determining cell fates in the eye, leg, and nervous system of the fly. It is a member of the Ski gene family and is thought to be involved in eye development. Four alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. (from Entrez gene). DACH1 has also been found to inhibit oncogene-mediated breast tumor growth via downregulation of cyclin D1. Expression of DACH1 has been found to inversely correlate with metastasis.Synonyms: (Drosophila), DACH, DACH-1, Dachshund homolog 1, FLJ10138, OTTHUMP00000040839, RP11-512J14.1
