PAR6 is a cell membrane protein involved in cell polarization and asymmetrical cell division processes as part of a multi protein complex. It is thought to be involved in the invasive phenotype that is associated with metastatic carcinomas, playing a role in the epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT). PAR6 is also thought to be involved in the formation of epithelial tight junctions. PAR6 contains a semi Cdc42/Rac interactive binding (CRIB) domain and a PDZ (PSD95/Discs-large/ZO1) domain, and several different PAR6 isoforms have been identified.Synonyms: PAR-6, PAR-6 alpha, PAR-6A, PAR6A, PAR6C, Partitioning defective 6 homolog alpha, TIP-40, Tax interaction protein 40
