- Background
- AIP/ARA9 plays a positive role in AHR-mediated signaling, possibly by influencing its receptivity for ligand and/or its nuclear targeting. It was originally identified as a negative regulator of hepatitis B virus X-associated protein (hence named XAP2 also) and later was shown as Hsp90-associated protein which specifically interacts with AhR leading to regulation of AhR intracellular localization as well as protein stability via inhibition of AhR ubiquitination.
