- Background

AGI Code: ATMG00160
Cytochrome c oxidase (COX) catalyzes the reduction of oxygen to water in the respiratory chain in the inner mitochondrial membrane. Subunits 1-3 form the functional core of the enzyme complex. Subunit 2 (COXII) transfers the electrons from cytochrome c via its binuclear copper A center to the bimetallic center of the catalytic subunit 1. Alternative name: cytochrome c oxidase subunit 2 - Molecular Weight
- expected: 29.4 kDa, apparent: 30 kDa (for Arabidopsis thaliana)
