- Background
- The contraction of striated muscle is initiated by the binding of intracellular calcium to the troponin complex located in the thin filaments. The complex consists of the 3 different troponins, troponin C, troponin T, and troponin I. Troponin T is the tropomyosin binding subunit of troponin which confers calcium sensitivity to striated muscle actomyosin ATPase activity. TNNT3 (Troponin T type 3 (skeletal, fast)) is one of 3 identified troponin T proteins which are encoded by different genes.Synonyms: Beta TnTF, TNNT3, TnTf
