    Background
Rabbits were immunized with the highly purified green-fluorescent protein (GFP) isolated directly from Aequorea victoria. After multiple immunizations in Freund's adjuvant, serum was collected. Antibodies were immunoaffinity purified using the native GFP immobilized on a solid phase.
