- Background
- Antigen distribution: CD44, otherwise known as the lymphocyte homing receptor, is widely expressed on hematopoietic and non-hematopoietic cells. It is found especially on epithelial, endothelial, mesothelial and mesenchymal cells as well as in the nervous system. The major isoform is CD44H which is expressed on lymphoid, myeloid and erythroid cells. Expression is increased on activated and memory/effector T cells. Soluble forms of CD44 can be detected in body fluids [1,2]. MEM-85 was clustered at the Leukocyte Typing Workshop IV [3,4]. Cellular Expression: Pan leukocytes (RA, RB, RO isoforms).
