Target
BNIP1
(BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19kDa Interacting Protein 1 (BNIP1))
BNIPs belong to the proapoptotic BH3-only protein family. Three isoforms have been described so far. BNIP 1 is involved in the maintenance of ER-integrity. It is a member of the syntaxin 18 complex which is involved in membrane trafficking between the ER and Golgi. Four different BNIP 1 splice variants have been described so far, one of which contains a highly conserved BH3 domain. All BNIP 1 variants are able to interact with the apoptosis regulators BCL2 and BCL2L1.Synonyms: BCL2/adenovirus E1B 19 kDa protein-interacting protein 1, NIP1, SEC20L, TRG8, Transformation-related gene 8 protein, Vesicle transport protein SEC20
